Condition
The canvas has been relined and the picture surface is relatively clean. There are retouchings to the dress, the dog and the right lower side of the painting. There is superficial dirt on the upper right side of the painting. Inspection under ultra violet light reveals uneven varnish and retouchings to the sky, the sitter's skin and minor retouchings throughout. There are major retouchings along the right edge. The painting is overall in good condition and offered in an ebonised, carved wood frame.
