Description

comprising three painted panels depicting the numerous buildings comprising the City Palace set amids foliage in the background and a walled island garden in the foreground, with boat on lake and scattered figures

Condition

In good condition, colours bright, the current owner carried out some restoration and cleaning, including overpainting to sections throughout as visible through UV light. minor vertical hairline cracks visible in wood panels, each panel set within a painted black frame held together with drilled pins, slightly loose to one panel on bottom left-hand corner, reverse painted green with loops at the top edge for hanging, as viewed.

This magnificent painting showcases the City Palace of Udaipur in great detail. Its stunning architecture and monumental size is evident here thanks to the brilliant white of the palace offset by the blue Lake Pichola.
