Description

Arabic manuscript on paper, 389 leaves, plus 2 flyleaves, 12 lines to the page, written in black naskh script, verses separated by pointed gold roundels, margins ruled in gold and blue, illuminated marginal roundels, surah headings written in red naskh within a gold and polychrome cartouche decorated with scrolls, double page illuminated frontispiece composed of a thick border of interlacing flowers and split-palmettes, tan morocco binding with gilt trellis decoration, with flap

Condition

In good overall condition, the margins are clean with occasional various stains and catchwords in red or black, smudges to the ink, occasional restoration of the borders or corners which do not affect the text, opening illumination in good condition with only occasional smudges to the ink, a later note with a prayer on the last folio signed Zayn al-Din and dated 1134 AH/1721-22 AD , binding worn and repaired, as viewed.
