Description

  • brass and enamel and jade
of circular form on four small ball-feet, decorated with delicate flowerheads and leaves in red and green enamel on a hatched ground on a white background, gold interior, the later gold lid comprising a gem-set jade carved as a flowerhead within gem-set and enamelled mount

Condition

The box in generally good condition, bright, some sections of enamel missing, for example to one of leaves to side and on petals and a leaf on underside, some hairline cracks to white enamel, very fine quality. The later lid made to match, some light scratches to stones (including rubies, quartz and diamonds), the underside of jade revealing old drill holes in three sections, some encrustation along engraved lines, minor sections of enamel to interior of mount missing, some rubbing and oxidisation to brass mount, as viewed.
