Condition

Oil on board laid down on cradled panel. The surface is in overall very good condition and the impasto remains fresh. There is a very fine web of craquelure, some of which is textured in the lower left quadrant. Under UV: some of the old fluorescing green varnish has been cleaned and there are scattered small areas of retouching throughout the work, concentrated in the background and at the edges of the lion's mane.
