Condition

Original canvas which is slightly slack on its stretcher. There are frame abrasions along the edges with minor associated paint loss. There is craquelure in places, notably to the area of sky. There are scattered areas of paint flaking throughout the composition with associated paint loss: to the left of the man with the cigarette, by the boot of the seated figure on the left, in the grass in the lower left. There is a dent in the right knee of the figure in the white shirt with associated paint flaking and losses and further losses in his trouser leg which have been painted in. Held in a stained wooden tray frame. Unexamined out of frame.
