Condition

The sheet is hinged to the mount with tape along the top edge. It has discoloured in line with age and there is foxing visible in the margins and on the reverse. There are several small tears to the edges but these are confined to the margins and not visible in the composition itself. There is creasing in the lower right corner as well as in the margins. Fine cracks are visible in the paint layer in places, for example in the strip of white along the far right of the composition and in the yellow sun behind the cityscape. There is a very small fleck of paint loss in one of the upper shafts of light in the left of the cityscape. There are various inscriptions in Cyrillic in the margins and pencil sketches on the reverse. Held behind glass in a carved wooden frame.
