Description

  • A Hellenistic Marble Head of a God

  • Height 9.5 cm.
probably Zeus, turned to his left, with full beard arranged in three tiers of curls, long moustache, prominent brow, and parted lips, his hair swept up above the forehead, bound in a fillet, and falling over the nape of the neck; no restorations.

Condition

As shown. Back of head summarily carved and with remains of incrustation. Tip of nose chipped. Minor nicks and abrasions. Mounted looking too high up on a square wooden base.
