Description

  • A Roman Marble Head of a Muse

  • Height 9 cm.
turned sharply to her left, her wavy hair parted in the centre, pulled back over the ears, tied in a chignon over the nape of the neck, and surmounted by a tall wreath of laurel leaves and berries; no restorations.

Condition

As shown. Tip of the nose missing. Chips and abrasions consistent with age and areas of darker staining. Cheeks, forehead and neck may have been slightly re-polished. The surface might benefit from a water cleaning.
