Catalogue Note

The arms are those of Stirling of Fiskine, co. Lanark, Bart. for Sir Walter Stirling, 1st Bart. F.R.S., F.A.S., b. 1758 married in 1794 Susannah, daughter and sole heiress of George Goodenough of Bordwood, Isle of Wight. He was M.P. for Gatton and St. Ives, and High Sheriff of Kent in 1804. He died in 1832.
