Condition

Ink and pencil on paper. Recto: In generally good condition aside from slight mat burn, small tears visible to the eye along all edges, uneven edges, a dog ear to the lower right corner, scratching throughout the sheet (appears to be in the hand of the artist). Verso: small repaired tears to all corners, a 2 inch repaired tear at upper center, a 2 1/2 inch vertical repaired tear along center left, a 1 inch repaired tear at center right, and a small dot of stain near right center edge.

Catalogue Note

The present drawing was given by George Bellows to Jessie Brown, the central figure in this work, on the occasion of her wedding to Earl Woodworth. In this drawing, George Bellows depicts himself standing behind Miss Brown; directly to her right is the artist Robert Henri.
