Condition
The canvas has been lined. There is a pattern of hairline craquelure in the darker pigments, only visible upon close inspection. Ultra-violet light reveals areas of old residual varnish which make the surface quite difficult to read. However, some strokes of retouching are visible along the right and left framing edges, along with some scattered areas, including:
- an area of retouching in the clouds to the right of the lower back of the blonde putto;
- strokes of retouching in his lower back and left arm; and
- some other scattered spots.
This work appears to be overall in good condition and ready to hang.
Presented in a decorative gilt frame with some minor losses.
