Condition
The canvas has not been lined. Ultra-violet light reveals an even layer of residual varnish that makes the surface quite difficult to read. However, some minor scattered strokes of strengthening are visible, including strokes in the lower left corner below the signature, to the right of the hat, and some fine spots in the old lady's chin. Otherwise, this work appears to be in good condition, presents very well, and is ready to hang.
