Condition
The canvas has been relined. There is a pattern of fine craquelure throughout the composition which appears to be stable. Ultra-violet light reveals areas of residual varnish which make the surface quite difficult to read. However, fine strokes of in-painting are visible in the aforementioned craquelure, notably in the sky. Two small strokes of old discoloured varnish are also visible in the sky in the upper left quadrant (as visible in the catalogue illustration). The painting is otherwise in good condition and ready to hang.
Presented in a decorative gilt frame.
