Description

  • Vittorio Corcos

  • signed V. Corcos lower left
  • oil on canvas laid on board
  • 55 by 41.5cm., 21½ by 16¼in.

Provenance

Minoccheri collection, Florence
Matteo Lex, Florence (acquired from the above in 1993)
Purchased from the above by the present owner

Condition

The canvas has been fully laid on a sheet of thick cardboard which has signs of wear. There is one fold line visible on the back of the board in the upper right corner and one area of loss in the centre of the lower edge. There are some pin-head sized nail holes visible along the four extreme framing edges. Ultra-violet light reveals traces of old residual varnish which make the surface quite difficult to read. However, some small spots of retouching are visible in the extreme left framing edge. Overall, this work presents well and is ready to hang. Presented in a decorative gilt frame with a velvet inner slip and a nameplate.
