Condition

The canvas has not been lined. There is a very fine pattern of hairline craquelure, notably in the sky, mostly visible only upon very close inspection. Ultra-violet light reveals a small area of retouching in the sky in the upper right corner, possibly addressing an old tear (also restored on the reverse), and some other scattered spots of cosmetic retouching including: - scattered spots in the sky; - very fine in-painting in the woman with the red cape in the lower right quadrant; - intermittent strokes in the extreme left edge; - and some other scattered spots of strengthening throughout. However, this work presents well and is overall in good condition. Presented in a decorative gilt frame.
