Condition

The original canvas has not been lined and is somewhat loose on its stretcher, notably in the upper right corner. This could benefit from some light tapping out. A narrow wooden baton has been nailed onto the upper edge to better fit the frame. There are two small nail holes in the upper left and right corner respectively with some associated paint loss. Other small, isolated spots of paint flaking are visible in the lower left corner and in the upper left and right corner. The latter could benefit from some consolidation. Ultra-violet light reveals strokes of cosmetic retouching along the extreme framing edges. However, the main composition remains untouched. This work is overall in good condition. Presented in a decorative gilt frame.
