Condition

Overall, the condition of the alabaster is very good, with minor dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. The man's proper left knee is reattached, and there is a slightly visible joint. There is veining to the alabaster, consistent with the material, including to the man's proper left arm and hand, and to the woman's back. There is a slightly restored vein running from the front to the back, by the woman's leg through to below the man's proper right leg. There is some mottling to the colour of the alabaster, particularly to the base. There are some minor chips and abrasions to the base. There is veining to the woman's proper left knee.
