Grapes from Cramant, Avize, Le Mesnil, Chouilly, Oger and from old vines in Pierry go into this gem. 5% of the wines used in the blend are aged in oak barrels, one-third of which are replaced every year. A lovely floral nose leads to a lovely, fine vanilla taste that will develop its characteristic nutty finish with bottle age. It seems to have reached maturity. Now buttery and full, there is even a hint of caramel. Revel in it! In 2011, very true, strong Chardonnay character on the nose. Very 'sweet' fruit on the palate. Beautiful, full, balanced Champagne, round in the mouth - like eating peaches. Finishes so elegantly. Serena Sutcliffe, MW
