Catalogue Note

Luigi Moglia (c. 1813-1878) était le fils de Domenico Moglia (vers 1780-1862), et leur atelier de micromosaiques fut un des plus importants et réputés de Rome.  Ensemble, ils exposèrent leurs oeuvres lors de l'exposition universelle de Londres en 1851 et y reçurent la médaille d'or. Luigi Moglia réalisa un guéridon en bois doré et micromosaïque, désormais propriété des Collections royales d'Angleterre (RCIN 41310). En 1861, il fut honoré de la distinction Virtuoso d'Onore par la Congrégation Pontificale des Talents artistiques au Panthéon.
