Condition
Very good condition overall. The colours correspond to the photograph. Some minor wear to the gilding of his coat. A few minor lacks to the edges of the plaque at several places. A few minor scratches to the surface of the enamel.
The female portrait : a few lacks of enamel to the edges of the plaque, one knock to the blue background in the upper left corner. A few fine scratches to the surface, in particular one fine hairline diagonal scratch across her face.
In giltwood frames with some minor wear.

Catalogue Note
Henri d'Albret était le fils de Jean d'Albret et de Catherine de Foix, reine de Navarre. Il épousa Marguerite d'Angoulème en 1527, annexant l'Armagnac à ses terres qui s'étendaient alors à presque toute la Gascogne. L'héritière d'Henri, sa fille Jeanne d'Albret, épousa Antoine de Bourbon. Leurs territoires respectifs furent transmis à leur fils Henri de Navarre qui devint roi de France en 1589 sous le nom d'Henri IV. Six portraits en émail plus anciens d'Henri de Navarre sont conservés au Louvre, à la Wallace Collection, à Chantilly, au British Museum et dans la collection Gustave de Rothschild.
