Condition

Very good condition overall, with some minor wear to the patina, some minor oxidation and a few scratches to the surface at several places. His proper right hand with some wear to the patina, holding a stick which is cast in two pieces. The drapery also cast (joint visible) separately.

Catalogue Note

Eugène Marioton connu une longue et glorieuse carrière de sculpteur et de graveur de médaille, exposant régulièrement au Salon de 1882 à 1922. Le Charmeur de serpent est l'une de ses pièces les plus célèbres. La composition est à la fois tendue et sinueuse, le charmeur jouant dangereusement avec le serpent enroulé autour de son bras.
