Condition

Very good condition overall with minor wear to the patina and surface dirt consistent with age and handling. The tail cast separetely with a visible joint and plug. Very fine chiseling of the surface.

Catalogue Note

Ce bronze reprend avec quelques variantes le projet de statue équestre pensé, mais inachevé, par Desjardins pour la ville d'Aix-en-Provence. Ce modèle est connu par des réductions en bronze dont l'une se trouve au château de Versailles (inv. n° MV 2172), une autre à Waddesdon Manor.
