Le sujet de la chasse aux cerfs était très populaire chez les micromosaïstes romains : comme pour le lot précédent, la composition s'inspire ici d'un dessin de Vallati. Un panneau très similaire signé de Domenico Moglia est visible au Victoria & Albert Museum (Gilbert collection) et un autre exemplaire, également signé de Moglia, est conservé à la Dwight D. Eisenhower Library, Abiline, Kansas.
