Condition
The picture is unlined. The paint surface is a little dirty and may benefit from a light clean. Faint horizontal stretcher-bar cracking across the centre.
UNDER ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT
There are flecked retouchings to the girl's face and to her arm and a few small areas on her skirt. There are other retouchings in the background but all of these appear to be cosmetic and there are no holes or tears.

The picture is contained in an attractive gilt moulded frame.

Barbara (1908-1996) was the only daughter of the cloth merchant Charles Wilfred de Selincourt. She married Jack Russell Carmichael Christopher in 1908.
