Condition

The following condition report was kindly provided by Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc.: The work was probably restored around thirty years ago. Although the lining is certainly effective, the painting seems to have become dirty. There is a slightly milky quality to the picture under ultraviolet light, which restricts positive identification of retouches. It is possible, particularly with this artist, that some weaknesses have been addressed by retouching, perhaps in the stomach of the dog at lower left, in the puppy, in the hair of the young girl and in a few other spots. There is a faint possibility that the sky has received a soft glaze which is not original. The painting looks well, if cleaned the restorations will be removed but the condition is nonetheless encouraging.
