FIRST EDITION IN FRENCH, 3 volumes, folio (527 x 392mm.), half-title in volume 1, titles printed in red and black, engraved frontispiece, dedication to Queen Anne, portrait of Overbeke, double-page plan and 146 plates (including one double-page of the Coliseum), plate list at end of each volume, contemporary calf gilt with royal arms of Queen Anne on covers, gilt edges, very slight worming, bindings rebacked, edges of covers slightly rubbed and with some minor repairs

An identically bound copy sold in the Kissner collection (Christie's, 3 October 1990, lot 319, illustrated on p.153), was described as the dedication copy, bound for presentation to Queen Anne.
