Imperial folio (416 x 280mm.), 326 leaves, [*, **6 ***8; a6 b-d4 e-h6 i2 k4 l-n6 o2 p-q6 r-y4 z6 aa-cc6 dd2 ee6 ff4 gg-ii6 kk2 ll4 mm-zz A-K6 L6-2 M6], the 5 leaves starting "De Sarmacia" bound between fos 266 and 267, gothic type, xylographic title-page, 4- to 14-line initial spaces, large initials in red and blue, smaller initials in red, numerous woodcut illustrations throughout by Wolgemuth and Pleydenwurff, including portraits, maps and town views, woodcuts with handcolouring in period style, binding a remboitage of later German pigskin over square wooden boards with metal corner- and centrepieces, two clasps, pastedowns from a manuscript of liturgical music, two leaves from an incunable (probably printed by Adolf Rusch in Strassburg) bound as endleaves, paper repairs to title-page, a few other marginal paper repairs, a few headlines shaved, occasional light browning, fol. 286 slightly damaged with loss of a few letters and small sections of the woodcut on verso, repaired wormholes (particularly at end), upper joint splitting at head
