Catalogue Note

An impressive wall-map of Asia, flanked by eighteen finely-engraved vignette plans or panoramas of principal cities and towns, including Bantam, Cochin, Canton, Batavia, Aden, and Jerusalem.

Wall-maps are particularly vulnerable to all manner of damage across the centuries and this is a fair example of the genre, and a rare survival of an eighteenth-century wall-map from the golden age of Dutch cartography. This example was evidently made to order for sale in the Spanish market.
