with detailed daily entries, including a nearly three-page account of the Diamond Jubilee Naval Review at Spithead, 26 June 1897, with approximately 60 attractive and proficient watercolours tipped in, mostly of ships (often captioned) but also including a few Aegean views, details of armaments, and related subjects, and also with approximately 30 hand-drawn charts tipped in, chiefly of the eastern Mediterranean, c.340 pages, plus blanks, folio (315 x 210mm.), 23 January 1895 to 14 July 1898, navy morocco gilt, scuffed

Catalogue Note

W.B. Watkins-Grubb (1879-1914) was the son of Lieut. Col. Alexander Grubb. He was killed in action on HMS Cressy during a U-Boat ambush in the opening weeks of World War I.
