Catalogue Note
The associated companies of the Iraq Petroleum Company were wide-ranging, and included operations in Syria, Jordan, the Lebanon and Qatar. This is reflected in the contents of Iraq Petroleum which includes articles, photographs and affairs of those countries as well the Persian Gulf - Bahrein, Dubai, Trucial Oman and Abu Dhabi - and Arabia. The articles include much on oil production, history, archaeology, the landscape and modern architecture as well as reporting current affairs and events, and is notable for its photographic illustrations (including the work of Ronald Codrai).
With the cessation of Iraq Petroleum magazine, The Crescent became the main periodical recording events of the company and its associated companies in the Middle East and the Persian Gulf. It is divided geographically, with sections on Kirkuk, Basrah, Qatar, Syria, Lebanon, Abu Dhabi, and other locations.
