Catalogue Note

Dahlberg, governor of Livonia and Chancellor of the University of Tartu in Estonia, obtained a commission from the Swedish government in 1661 to make drawings of the country's architectural treasures. The work was published for presentation purposes at the expense of the Swedish crown under Charles XI and XII. Volume 1 contains plates of Stockholm, Uppland and Södermanland; volumes 2 and 3 comprise the rest of Sweden and Finland.
