Provenance

Alphonse le Cavelier (1800-1878), a bibliophile from Caen, by family descent to the present owner. Le Cavelier's library was catalogued on his death and about two thirds of it was sold in Paris in 1894-1895 by Maurice Delestre.

A French edition, with corrections to 1825, of Carey and Lea's Complete historical, chronological, and geographical American Atlas of 1822 and 1823. This was the first instance of an American atlas being reprinted in Europe.
