Catalogue Note

RARE PHOTOGRAPHS OF MONGOLIA. The first album of photographs documents the journey of a German army officer Haumptmann Erwin Fischer by horse across Mongolia, on his journey from Beijing to Baikal in Siberia from September to October 1901. The majority of the photographs show scenes in Mongolia, including the capital with a few professional photographs by Vorobjev. The second album contains small photographs of Singapore, together with a few of China.
