Condition

Overall in very good condition. The shade with approximately 25 cracks to the glass tiles dispersed throughout. All of these hairlines appear stable, and are predominantly minor and on very small tiles. The rare "Ball" root base is in remarkably good condition. All of the iridized favrile glass balls appear original and undisturbed, with no visible hairlines or damage. The favrile balls all appear visually harmonious, with very gentle rubbing to the exterior iridized surfaces. The bronze surfaces of the base displays an exceptionally rich and layered green and russet patina. The bronze surfaces with some occasional light surface wear and scratches, rubbing, and a few scattered small and minor patina losses, consistent with age and gentle handling. The telescoping device of the base functions smoothly. The three sockets and paddle switches appear original and undisturbed. The rare "Ball" heat cap is in very good condition; the favrile glass ball shows light surface wear with no visible hairlines or flecks; the green patina on the heat cap possibly enhanced; with a shallow bruise along one area of the side perimeter. An exceptionally strong and dynamic example of the Double Poinsettia model, displaying a well varied and highly saturated glass selection. The shade and base pairing is particularly successful, heightening the sculptural presence of the lamp. The lamp displays beautifully, and when viewed firsthand the coloration is more nuanced and varied than seen in the catalogue illustration, displaying exceptional shading in the blossoms and vibrant cerulean blue hues in the background passages.
