Condition
Overall in very good condition. The patinated bronze surfaces display a rich and vibrant russet brown and green patina with some gentle rubbing and surface soiling to the recessed contours of the design, consistent with age and gentle use. The mosaic favrile glass tiles all appear original, with a few isolated tight hairlines (all which appear stable) and with some minor edge wear with some associated minor losses. One tile adjacent to a bronze flower with a minor chip measuring ¼ x ¼ inch and not visually distracting. Three tiles below a bronze flower have possibly been reset at some point in the history of the piece. The mosaic glass is beautifully iridized, imparting the glass with strong luminosity and a range of brilliant jewel-tones. The tiles display vigorous wave-form decoration which imparts the jardinière with strong rhythmic movement. The bottom interior of the jardinière (beneath the liner) and interior rim with minor surface discolorations and oxidation. The liner is original and presents with minor surface scratches and oxidation consistent with age and gentle handling. A beautiful example of the model employing luminous mosaic tiles in a vibrant range of colors that complement the rich patina of the bronze “Arrowhead” motif.
