The canvas is unlined. There is a very light superficial scratch in the sky to the left of the upper edge, and some minor hairline craquelure. Ultra-violet light reveals areas of residual varnish which fluoresce unevenly and opaquely over much of the composition apart from the sky, making the surface difficult to read under UV. There appear to be a couple of very minor spots of retouching to the right of the sky, and some scattered strokes along the lower edge. Under normal light the painting presents well, and is ready to hang. Presented in a decorative coved and fluted gilt frame.
