Mathaf Gallery, Londres
Mathaf Gallery, Londres
Condition
The canvas has a loose lining which does not appear to be fully attached to the artist’s canvas.
Ultraviolet light reveals retouching notably throughout much of the sky and smaller strokes in the figures, notably in the cloak of the man with his back to the viewer; to the left of the white prancing horse and in its body, and other scattered strokes.
The overall appearance of the painting under normal light is good and it is ready to hang.
The colours are deeper in reality than in the printed catalogue.
Presented in a gilt frame, probably from the Mathaf gallery.
