Description

  • Fritz Brandt
  • Vue d'Athènes avec L'Acropole
  • Signé et daté en bas à droite Fritz Brandt Rom '93
  • Huile sur toile
  • 42 x 60,5 cm ; 16 1/2 by 23 7/8 in

Provenance

Richard George Penn Cuzon, 4e Earl Howe (1861-1929), cadeau de sa Majesté le Roi de Grèce.

Condition

The canvas is unlined. There is a pattern of craquelure visible primarily in the sky. Under ultraviolet light, there are notably small repairs in the upper left of the sky where the retouching has slightly discoloured (visible in the printed catalogue illustration). Some of the pigments in the middle distance fluoresce green, however these appears to be the artist’s originals. The painting is otherwise in good overall condition. Presented in a simple gilt frame.
