Condition
The canvas has not been lined.
There are some signs of frame rubbing to the left edge (as visible in the catalogue illustration).
There is a fine pattern of craquelure primarily in the sky to the upper right.
Ultraviolet light reveals traces of residual varnish in the figure and upper left and some signs of retouching, notably a small circa by 2 cm area in the foliage in the upper left, strengthening in the foliage to the right of the figure’s left shoulder, and a few other small spots.
The painting is otherwise in good condition and ready to hang.
Presented in a coved and fluted gilt frame with some ornament losses.
