Condition
The canvas is unlined
There is a very fine localised pattern of craquelure, notably in the man’s left arm.
Scattered minor strokes of retouching are visible under ultraviolet light, notably in the man’s left eyebrow and his left sleeve, the lower part of the statue and in the background to the upper left where the varnish fluoresces more opaquely.
This painting is otherwise in good condition and ready to hang.
