Condition
The canvas is unlined.
As partly visible in the catalogue illustration, there is a hairline pattern of craquelure overall, and a light mark corresponding to the horizontal central stretcher bar. There is some frame rubbing along the extreme edges, mostly covered by the frame.
Ultraviolet light reveals areas of residual varnish fluorescing green, and notably a small repair in the red pigments towards the upper left corner, a repaired tear below the figure's right foot, and possible strengthening in the light pigments of the wall towards the upper centre.
The painting is otherwise in good overall condition and although there are some signs of surface dirt, overall the work presents well as is.
Presented in a decorative gilt frame.
