Condition
The canvas is unlined, on a modern stretcher. A number of very fine surface scratches are visible, for example towards the center of the left edge (visible in the catalogue illustration). Under ultra-violet light a small area in the boy's right cheek fluoresces; this area does not appear to be varnished and it could relate to the artist's original pigments. There do not appear to be other notable signs of retouching, and the painting is otherwise in good original condition.
Presented in a simple, narrow white-painted frame.
