the central frieze drawer opening to a velvet-lined writing slide.
Condition
Beautifully carved, not overly restored and would benefit from sensitive restoration; the surfaces are fairly dry; the upper section with some small losses to veneers at edges and corners- the largest being a 2 x 1 inch loss to top of one column. Interior lined with fabric and wired for lighting. Parcel-gilt borders with some rubbing and a few losses to gesso. Velvet to writing surface later; now with an age crack. Side door on proper right side of lower section loose from hinges, recommend securing. Usual nicks, dents, and surface restorations.
