Two parts in one volume, 4to (7 x 5 in.; 178 x 127 mm). General title-page and 8 separate section-titles, that to The Civile Wares engraved by Cockson, with blanks 1A4 and 2N4, 1E4 a cancel (as usual) in first state; general title-page and dedication leaf reinforced at inner margin, engraved title to The Civile Wares cropped at fore-and bottom edges, shoulder-note on 1E4v cropped, I4-8 with trace worming, occasional soiling, staining, and pen trials throughout. Contemporary limp vellum, remnants of ties; soiled. Brown morocco pull-off case gilt by Rivière Mounteney.

Catalogue Note

The most complete seventeenth-century edition of Daniel's works, prepared for the press by his brother, John. The Civile Wares consists of the sheets from the 1609 edition; the present copy includes gathering A of that work, which is often lacking.
