4to (7 1/4 x 5 3/8 in.; 184 x 138 mm).  Fine additional engraved title-page in 11 compartments with a central portrait of a perfected English gentleman, possibly the author, by Robert Vaughan, folding letterpress "A Draught of the Frontispi[e]ce" explicating the eight "Properties, Adjuncts, and Characters" depicted on the engraved title, woodcut initials, woodcut and type-ornament head- and tailpieces; lacking terminal blank, headpiece of frontispiece explication just shaved, short worm-trail at upper margins Hhh–Nnn, tear into text with crude repair on Mmm4, scattered soiling and spotting, chiefly marginal. Nineteenth-century diced russia; rubbed, rebacked.
