Large woodcut vignette of crowning cock on a woodpile on title, text mostly black letter; blank fore-margin of title skillfully renewed, occasional light staining or browning. Brown crushed morocco by Sangorski & Sutcliffe, spine git-lettered. edges gilt.

Catalogue Note
First edition of the first English translation of the Georgics. Fleming was the first Englishman to adapt Virgil's minor poems, and he published a rhymed version of the Bucolics in 1575. The present volume is a completely new translation in blank verse with the Georgics added for the first time.
