4to (230 x 180 mm). Engraved frontispiece and six engravings in text, 2 folding charts, numerous smaller illustrations in text; diminishing faint damp stain in lower corner of first signatures. Contemporary black morocco with double-panels on sides, inner panel with roll-tooled floral pattern, the corners surmounted with floral and vase device, all enclosed by triple and then double filets, the spine in six richly gilt compartments, with stars and cross-hatched flowers, by Charles Mearne; some scuffing and rubbing.
