Two parts in one volume, 8vo (5 1/2 x 3 1/2 in.; 140 x 89 mm). Folding engraved frontispiece by W. Marshall, separate title-page for Part II (The Legend of Captain Jones Continued) dated 1670 with continuous pagination and register, text in verse; browned throughout, hole on D6 costing about two words. Eighteenth-century tree calf paneled gilt, marbled endpapers; rebacked, spine laid down, lower joint splitting.

Catalogue Note
Lloyd's popular burlesque in verse of the exploits of Captain John Smith, first published in 1631, three years after Smith's True Travels appeared. There is similarity between the adventures related, including an attempt to build a settlement in America (Florida is mentioned). The Legend of Captain Jones Continued, with the earlier date of 1670, was not part of the first edition.
