Catalogue Note
First edition in English of Livy's Roman History (Ab urbe condita), and Philemon Holland's first published translation. Holland is considered by many the “translator general in his age” (quoted in Pforzheimer). This work was used by Shakespeare, particularly in his Coriolanus.
